Wiltshire Blind Association Holidays

Our holidays are for reasonably fit and able bodied visually impaired people and their partners or carers.

All our hotel rooms are en suite and are chosen to make sure that they meet all the right criteria for our parties; the right position, ease of access, good food and a comfortable friendly atmosphere.

We require a full list of medication taken by holiday makers and carers and the reason for taking them in case of sudden illness or accident. If you are unable to manage on your own you will need to bring a carer.

Holidays are at group rates and include coach travel, outings and insurance

Holidays 2013

We are booking two more holidays with Creative Travel for 2013 and Paul, the coach driver, plus a resident courier for will be looking after you.
If you would like to put your name down for either or both of the holidays, let us know and we will send you the full details. The cost for each holiday is £296.00 per person and includes travel insurance.

Eastbourne and South Coast

Monday 15th - Friday 19th April
Based at the Palm Court Hotel in Eastbourne, the break includes:
• 3 star hotel with breakfast and evening dinner. Entertainment every evening
• Coach tours every day including Rye, Battle and Alfriston

Deposits of £35 by 15 January
Full payment by 15 February

Teignmouth and Devon

Monday 7th - Friday 11th October
Based at the Cliffden Hotel in Teignmouth, the break includes:
• 3 star hotel with breakfast and evening dinner. Entertainment every evening
• Coach tours every day including Exmouth, Exeter, Sidmouth & Dartmouth

Fun for All Weekend

A festival weekend in Wiltshire from Friday 25th - Sunday 27th January 2013 for carers and those they care for at the 4-star Hilton Hotel in Swindon. Organised by Mike Oakes (our AGM entertainer). Cost £120 per person.

Activities include: Sing-alongs, bingo and quizzes, pig racing, Introduction to Family History, therapy session, hand bell ringers, flower arranging, choir, cabaret, use of swimming pool, sauna and spa.

Holidays for the more adventurous

For some time now many of our members have been asking for holidays that are a bit more adventurous and we think we have come up with just the ticket!

We’ve teamed up with Ian Roberts, a friend and supporter of the charity to offer two exciting adventures for next year. As a mountain instructor, Ian has an impressive tally of leading over 25 Himalayan expeditions on the planets highest mountains. He has spent a period of time living in Kathmandu and established a successful mountaineering company there.

Ian now lives in Snowdonia, Wales. His resume includes tour guide, climbing instructor and trainer.

 

Snowdonia Adventure

May 2013 - Cost £140
Bed & Breakfast accommodation for two nights at a friendly venue. Three day adventure plan includes:

• Ropes course
• Rock climbing
• Hill / river walk

The WBA will provide minibus travel to and from Snowdonia.

 

Nepal Adventure

Autumn 2013 - Cost approx. £1,250
Includes flights, travel and accommodation
Day1: Arrive Kathmandu – Street life and temples
Day 2: Overland along the Tibetan highway along the banks of the Sunkosy River to Borderland Resort.
Day 3: Himalayan Bungee or canyoning
Day 4: White water rafting
Day 5: Return to Kathmandu
Day 6: Chitwan Jungle Safari – overland transit to the Terrai region
Day 7: Morning and evening Elephant safari
Day 8: Morning Elephant safari – transit to Kathmandu
Day 9: Kathmandu – free day
Day 10: Return Flights
