Legacies - Where there's a will
The Wiltshire Blind Association almost entirely relies on the generosity of the general public to fund our services. Leaving us a gift in your Will, however large or small, will help to provide a full range of support services to people who are registered blind and partially sighted. We are often a lifeline for individuals coming to terms with losing their sight. By remembering us in your Will you can ensure that this essential help continues into the future. So once you've remembered the people you care about, don't forget the Wiltshire Blind Association.
Types of gifts
Here are examples of different kinds of gifts you can make in your Will:
- The remainder of your estate after you have provided for your loved ones
- An amount of money specified in your Will e.g. £1,000
- A special gift e.g. an antique, a stamp collection, a property or shares
Who will benefit?
People who are registered blind or visually impaired in Wiltshire or Swindon benefit from your generosity and charitable donations from your Will are free from inheritance tax. How do I word my Will?
We recommend that you seek professional advice when drawing up your Will. Here are two types of clauses you could put in your Will so that the Wiltshire Blind Association is able to benefit:
A RESIDUARY LEGACY is the remainder of your estate after you have provided for your loved ones.
'I give all (or …..% of) the residue of my estate to the Wiltshire Blind Association, St Lucy's, I Commercial Road, Devizes, Wiltshire SN10 1EH (Registered Charity No 1119462) the sum of £…….(or name of item) for its general purposes.'
A PECUNIARY LEGACY is a specific amount of money just as a SPECIFIC LEGACY is a specific non monetary item that has a value like an antique, a property or shares.
'I give to the the Wiltshire Blind Association, St Lucy's, I Commercial Road, Devizes, Wiltshire SN10 1EH (Registered Charity No 1119462) the sum of £…….(or name of item) for its general purposes.'
Is my Will safe and up to date?
Your bank or solicitor will store an original Will. Keep a copy in a safe place.
