Moving On
A programme of practical and emotional support to help people come to terms with sight loss has been launched by the Wiltshire Blind Association (WBA). Over 18's only.
Moving On is a course of six, three-hour weekly sessions that will include information and support through discussion groups and workshops, which are delivered by expert facilitators who have either a personal experience or a professional understanding of visual impairment. The workshops will be held weekly at venues across Wiltshire and Swindon.
Maggie Hemmings, Moving On Coordinator at the WBA, said: “Sight loss can happen at any age and often causes devastation to the lives of those concerned and their families. The continuous pressure on Social Services budgets inevitably means that the blind and partially sighted often have to wait a considerable time before they receive practical and financial help. We are providing the opportunity for people with sight loss to meet others in a similar situation and to share information, experiences and emotions and help them build their personal confidence to meet the challenges of daily living.”
The course is free to visually impaired people and refreshments will be provided.
